About
Ijenna Osakwe (ne: Iroaga) was born in Abia State Nigeria during the civil war and, as a consequence, emigrated with her parents to Canada soon after.
After several years in Toronto, she returned with her family back to Nigeria where she completed high school after which she completed her degree in pharmacy at the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
After obtaining her pharmacy degree she returned to Canada where she had to sit for the qualifying and licensing exams and obtained a license to practise pharmacy in Canada. In 2000 she moved to Calgary Alberta. Since then, Ijenna obtained specialized certifications as a Diabetes Educator and Travel Health Specialist. Ijenna has a high sense of adventure and likes to travel, and has spent time in Australia, Italy, Mexico, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Morocco and various states in the USA. Just as importantly, Ijenna believes in volunteerism. Over the years, she has volunteered with the Dalhousie Community Association, St. Luke’s Catholic Church Parish, the Nigerian Canadian Association of Calgary, and as a preceptor to pharmacy students from the University of Alberta. Since moving to Calgary, Ijenna has worked at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, Foothills Hospital drug information department, Calgary Coop pharmacies and Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy. She is currently the Pharmacy Manager at a Calgary Coop Pharmacy in Northwest Calgary.
