About

My name is Ogechukwu Ezike, but most people call me Oge. I was born in Fuga, Nigeria, however my family is originally from Imo state. I immigrated to the United States when I was about 2 years old. I was raised in New York City with my parents and my 4 siblings.

We participated in a pretty robust Nigerian Catholic community in the Bronx that helped keep us connected to our roots and our language, as mass was given in our native language, Igbo. I grew up appreciating Nigerian/West African food, clothing, music and culture very deeply. It is still my favorite food and music to this day.

The Nigerian Catholic church is also where I met my husband, Jide. We dated for 10+ years before finally getting married in August of 2021.    I completed most of my school/training in the New England area. I went to Williams College in Western Massachusetts for undergrad where I was premed and majored in Biology.

I then completed medical school in Boston at Tufts University, before finally completing my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brown in Rhode Island.

I now am an OB/GYN physician. I am currently completing an additional fellowship (or extra training) in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery in Los Angeles, CA to help medically and surgically manage patients with complex gynecologic conditions such as chronic pelvic pain, uterine fibroids and endometriosis. I am passionate about women’s health, reproductive justice, and the provision of equitable healthcare.

Unfortunately, I have only been back to Nigeria 2 times since birth. I am looking forward to going more frequently now that I am almost done with my medical training!
