Meet Sheila Rao

Hello! I am so grateful to be allowed to co-host this show with my impressive co-hosts. I'm a sociocultural anthropologist by training and I study the interconnections between food, labour, biotechnology and environmental impacts, globally, in Canada and Sub-Saharan Africa, and from an intersectional feminist perspective. Based in Canada, I grew up as a second-generation South Asian immigrant and studied the de-politicisation of diasporic identity in graduate school. I teach courses on culture, gender and social change and integrate podcasting into my courses and assignments. Thanks for tuning in!
